Product Manager

Based in Latham, NY

The Product Manager is responsible for the cross functional coordination of bringing VersaTrans products to market.

General Duties include:

• Performs analysis, prepares Business Case, Charter & Scope, and Business Requirements for product enhancements, new products and custom-programming projects. Proactively remains abreast of industry and market developments to maintain product/service competitive advantage and generate new product ideas
• Manages influx of product modification requests
• Conducts detailed customer, competitive and market analyses for proper product definition and prioritization of requirements
• Works with cross-functional teams to finalize the selection of new product features
• Coordinates product launch and rollout projects
• Functions as an ambassador of the company and client liaison, collecting input and requests from clients, and informing clients about developments of interest, etc.
• Prepares and maintains product positioning statements
• Collaborates with Business Analysts to further define functionality as needed
• Responsible for copyright management of VersaTrans products
• Initiation of and facilitation of user groups

Required:

• Understanding of product management concepts, including, but not limited to business analysis, requirements gathering, release planning, business case formation, and cost justification
• Proven project management skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Thorough understanding of the software product lifecycle
• Ability to work well with colleagues, customers and business development partners
• Ability to travel 25% of the year
• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing or equivalent experience
• 1+ years proven experience in project coordination and/or management
• 3+ years experience in the pupil transportation industry

Desired:

• 1+ years experience with VersaTrans RP
• 3+ years experience in software product management
